Ingredients
500g Haloumi ( I buy a whole block of 900g so I can cut thick chips the prepackaged haloumi is too thin)
1 bagel blitzed to make breadcrumbs
2 tsps mixed herbs dried
2 eggs beaten
11/2 cups plain flour seasoned with pepper
1 cup franks hot sauce
40g butter melted
Canola oil for frying
Method
Chop the haloumi into thick cut chips
Place the oil in a large pan on to heat on medium heat, do not over fill as it will rise when chips go in
Place the flour, beaten egg and breadcrumbs in 3 separate bowls in this order
Drop each chip into the flour to coat then tap off the excess, drop into the egg and cover completely then finally into the breadcrumbs.
Repeat until all the chips are done.
Test the oil by dropping some crumbs in, if the bubble and fry it is good to go.
Gently drop in 5 chips at a time and turn frequently until they are golden brown. This only takes 3 to 4 minutes.
Drain on kitchen paper until all chips are cooked.
To make the sauce add the melted butter to the hot sauce and whisk together.
